Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) has officially recognized Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin as strategic reserve assets, making it a pioneer in integrating digital currencies into reserve strategies. This decision follows the enactment of GMC Law No. 1 of 2024, which establishes a legal framework for digital asset services.Additionally, Bhutan has emerged as a significant player in the Bitcoin space, holding 13,036 BTC valued at $770 million, which constitutes nearly 27.9% of its GDP, surpassing El Salvador's holdings. A high-level meeting in March 2025 will further discuss the incorporation of digital assets into strategic reserves.
